Location: Lacey, WA
Work arrangement: Full-time, in-person position at the I-5 production facility
Pay: $35 - $40 per hour, depending on experience

About the Role
The Material Handling Specialist supports I-5's in-shop production operation by helping materials, components, and finished products move safely and efficiently through the facility. This is a hands-on position for someone who is organized, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in an active production environment. You will help ensure materials are received, stored, staged, tracked, and available when production teams need them.
Because I-5 fabricates customized architectural and decorative components, the materials handled may vary considerably from one project to the next. The ideal candidate can stay organized, communicate clearly, and adjust priorities as project needs change.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming materials and verify shipments against applicable documentation
- Inspect deliveries for visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies
- Organize and store materials in designated shop and warehouse areas
- Stage materials, parts, and components for production teams
- Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, move, and organize materials throughout the facility
- Move materials safely throughout the production facility
- Help prepare, protect, and organize completed components for shipment
- Maintain accurate material, inventory, and movement records using company tracking and clerical software
- Communicate shortages, damaged materials, and delivery concerns promptly
- Keep storage, loading, and production-support areas clean and organized
- Follow company safety procedures and proper material-handling practices
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in material handling, warehousing, shipping and receiving, manufacturing, construction, or a related environment
- Forklift operating experience required; ability to obtain any company-required forklift operator certification or authorization.
- Experience using modern clerical, inventory, tracking, or similar computer software
- Ability to organize and track multiple materials and components accurately
- Ability to work safely in an active production facility
- Dependable attendance and consistent follow-through
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt as production and project priorities change
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including regularly lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, climbing, and performing physical work throughout the shift, with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting construction, fabrication, millwork, manufacturing, or custom production
- Experience with inventory-control or material-tracking systems
- Experience preparing large, fragile, or custom-fabricated components for shipment
Pay and Benefits
- Full-time, W-2, in-person position
- Pay: $35 - $40 per hour, depending on experience
