Apply Your Electrical Expertise to Custom-Built Architectural Features

I-5 Design Build is a national design-build firm with more than 40 years of experience creating casino, hospitality, entertainment, food and beverage, and high-end commercial environments. Our Lacey production facility fabricates many of the customized architectural and decorative components installed in I-5 projects throughout the country.

About the Role

I-5 Design Build is seeking an In-Shop Master Electrician to support electrical work associated with its custom production and fabrication operation. This position is based in the Lacey shop and requires a Washington master-level electrical credential.

You will help ensure electrical work completed within the production environment meets applicable codes, project requirements, quality expectations, and safety standards. The role requires someone who combines advanced electrical knowledge with strong communication and the flexibility to work on customized, project-specific assemblies.

Unlike repetitive production electrical work, I-5's projects can include distinctive architectural features and decorative elements that require careful coordination with designers, engineers, fabricators, production employees, and installation teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day electrical and lighting installation for custom-fabricated architectural and decorative components
  • Oversee and provide technical direction to Journeyman Electricians performing electrical work
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Verify that electrical work complies with applicable codes, safety requirements, and company quality standards
  • Inspect completed electrical work for quality, accuracy, code compliance, and readiness for installation
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues involving shop-built components, lighting systems, and related electrical work
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with design, engineering, production, and project teams
  • Help identify practical electrical solutions for custom components and changing project conditions
  • Maintain safe work practices and accurate electrical documentation
  • Support production schedules by ensuring electrical work is completed accurately and efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • Current Washington Master Electrician credential, valid and in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Journeyman Electrician
  • Strong hands-on experience with electrical and lighting installation
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, applicable codes, and safe work practices
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and verify electrical work for quality and code compliance
  • Experience safely operating electrical tools, equipment, and components
  • Ability to provide day-to-day direction and technical guidance to Journeyman Electricians
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, engineers, fabricators, production personnel, and project teams
  • Clear communication, dependable attendance, and consistent follow-through
  • Ability to work full-time from I-5's Lacey production facility
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of an active electrician role, including standing and walking for extended periods; bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing; using hand and power tools; and regularly lifting and moving materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical experience in manufacturing, fabrication, commercial construction, lighting, controls, or custom production
  • Experience with decorative lighting or custom architectural assemblies
  • Previous responsibility for supervising or verifying the work of other electrical personnel
  • Experience coordinating shop fabrication with field installation requirements
  • Familiarity with fast-moving commercial hospitality or entertainment projects
